TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia (TGRA) is continuing to expand its support for local motorsport with the stunning GR Supra GT4 EVO2 now available for customers to order in Australia.
The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing factory-built racecar is homologated to compete in GT4 racing, which is an exciting circuit-racing category designed for amateur and professional racers that locally, includes the 6-round, 12-race Monochrome GT4 Australia championship.
The availability of the GR Supra GT4 in Australia follows TGRA’s partnership with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing New Zealand (TGRNZ) which will manage the sale, distribution, parts and technical support for Australian racing customers.
Toyota Australia Chief Marketing Officer Vin Naidoo said the availability of the GR Supra GT4 in Australia was an exciting addition for local motorsport competition, in a category that continues to grow in terms of team participation and fans alike.
“There are already a couple of teams racing GR Supra GT4s in the local GT4 championship this season, which is run as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries. This alignment with TGRNZ will give more Australian customers easier access to purchase and race this outstanding racecar, and that’s something we’re very excited about”, Mr Naidoo said.
“It’s great that another performance product from GR is in the Australian & New Zealand marketplace,” said TOYOTA GAZOO Racing New Zealand Motorsport Manager Nicolas Caillol.
“We like our performance cars to be fun to drive and adding the GR Supra GT4 EVO2 into the mix in this popular Australian & New Zealand motorsport category definitely takes that philosophy to the next level.
“The introduction of the GR Supra GT4 EVO2 to New Zealand and Australia for 2025 is sure to leave an impression and we are excited to work with our customer teams to put our cars in the top step of the podium on both sides of the Tasman. It’s a well-trodden path for other manufacturers and we believe it is an excellent car for continuing driver development,” he said.
The high-performance 3.0-litre turbocharged, six-cylinder, rear-drive GR Supra GT4 has achieved great success on the track since the first generation was launched in 2020, with more than 500 podium finishes in Europe, Asia and the US.
The GR Supra GT4 is based on the GR Supra road car and runs a modified engine management system including a Marelli ECU and Akrapovic racing exhaust enabling the engine to generate more than 470HP and 660Nm peak torque.
The engine drives the rear wheels through a modified ZF automatic transmission with a DREXLER motorsport-spec limited-slip differential on the rear and a high-torque GKN Motorsport driveshaft.
KW adjustable racing dampers deliver excellent racecar handling with six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes providing the stopping power. 18-inch OZ racing wheels wrapped in Pirelli rubber complete the racing package.
